Excessive overdevelopment has been a long-standing issue in Bethlehem Township. Unfortunately, many former Commissioners on the township board did little or nothing to address this problem. Their lack of action led to rapid overdevelopment that has resulted in massive traffic congestion and strains on township infrastructure and resources. Commissioner Verdes believes in taking a more proactive approach to this problem. One of the primary things that Commissioner Verdes will continue to do is to make more appropriate appointments to the Planning and Zoning Boards. This will help ensure that big developers are held more accountable to our zoning ordinances and not given a rubber stamp of approval for every plan and zoning change request. Commissioner Verdes also believes there is more that can be done to mitigate unwanted development through the thoughtful introduction of new zoning ordinances that will hold developers more accountable to our community needs.
